We all know I'm a slacker and don't ever get around to this thing. Ok, that said, I have a few updates.
1. Joseph is now in school... in KINDERGARTEN even!
This has been a wonderful thing, except that he is being teased by the other kids for his love of hot pink, and his shoe laces, which are black with hot pink stars. Here's what it looks like all together:
I don't think it looks "Girly" at all! I think he looks just fine :)
Anyway, he's been getting teased relentlessly, and yet he still refuses to change them because he absolutely loves them. I'm not making him change them either. Yes, the teasing is something he could very easily avoid by switching them to the skull head ones we also bought, but I am REALLY proud of him for deciding he's NOT going to let peer pressure force him to do something that he doesn't want to do. I'm so glad that he has the confidence to just be who HE is despite being made fun of for wearing "girl" shoes. I know that while this is a very hard thing for him to go through, it is also the RIGHT thing. And not to completely toot my own horn, but I'm pretty proud of myself for, as one person put it, "raising a child who is comfortable enough with himself to go against the grain."
We're hoping that this will quickly pass, although two days ago, he ended up punching a girl in the face out of frustration. That he hit a girl actually upset him more than the teasing had. Anyway, we got that all worked out, and I don't think she'll be teasing him anymore, and I KNOW he won't be hitting any girls again either. That was very not so cool.
Aside from all the teasing, Joseph is actually really loving school. He's picking up reading really quick. We've been working with him a lot, and it's really starting to show! He's doing very well at mathematical concepts as well, and we've been working on social graces a bit more too.
All in all, it looks like it's going to be a good year for him.
2. We May Be Moving Back to Texas Sooner Rather Than Later!!!
This is a very exciting thing for me, personally. We have been trying to move back for about 3 or 4 years now, and it just might be happening come Christmas break. The only drawback will be that it'll only be me, the kids and my mom at that point. Alex will move in with my dad and stay until a) he gets his degree, or b) my parents' house sells, whichever comes first. Even so, I AM SOOO EXCITED!!! I'm willing to do just about ANYTHING to get out of here! Ugh.
3. I am a Twitterholic
This last little bit of an update is really not important at all actually. I just really like twitter at the moment, and find myself thinking of little tweets all day long... Did I mention I am a twitterholic? Oh, I did. Ok... I mean seriously, I hashtag things in my head ALL FREAKiNG DAY! It's kinda fun actually.
Through twitter and all its addictiveness, I have met some truly wonderful people that I would have never even known existed. I guess it's a little pathetic that some of my favorite people on this earth are ones I've never officially met before, but eh, whatever, so be it. It's kinda crazy how you can just connect and drop into a conversation with such a mass amount of people. The best way I've heard it described is this: Twitter is for the people you WiSH you knew, Facebook is for the ones that you do know and wish you didn't at times, and Myspace is for the people that you forgot. So sad, so true, but in a funny kinda way. So, now for a shameless plug: If you have a twitter account, feel free to follow me too! @YoMama2005 <--- that's my handle. Drop a note, say hi, and let's be friends
I'm pretty sure that's about it. If I think of something else, I'll try and remember to come back and post it, but let's be honest here... that's probably not very likely :P
